The Opportunities
We are searching for four Business Development Managers across two business units.
BDM - UnicomNZ: focused on new client acquisition across the telecommunications and ICT sector, targeting businesses nationwide.
BDM - Unicom Intelligent Building (UIB): focused on growing UIB's presence in the NZ commercial construction market, selling end-to-end intelligent building technology solutions. Background in commercial construction, sales, or QS with an NZ main contractor is essential.
What You'll Do
Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within your target market
Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders
Engage decision-makers early — architects, developers, project managers, and C-suite
Understand client needs at a high level and translate them clearly to internal delivery teams
Collaborate with technical and project teams to ensure seamless client outcomes
Gather and relay market intelligence to inform wider business strategy
Own your pipeline end-to-end, from initial outreach through to close
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in a BDM or new business sales role — with a track record of identifying, pursuing, and closing new clients
Confident communicator and presenter — comfortable engaging at all levels, including C-suite
Commercial acumen — able to articulate value, understand project margins, and position a solution competitively
Self-motivated and organised — able to manage sales pipeline with minimal oversight
