Join New Zealand’s leading independent building compliance company
Cove Compliance is New Zealand's leading independent building compliance specialist. With three dedicated offices nationwide and a team of over 50 experts, they serve the entire property market, from commercial and industrial portfolios to local and central government, as well as specialised assets like data centres, infrastructure, and quick-service restaurants.
We are looking for a permanent, full-time Building Compliance Inspector based in Takapuna, travelling to customer sites across the greater Auckland region. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring clients achieve and maintain compliance with New Zealand's Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) requirements, with a focus on the inspection and testing of specific building systems, including fire alarms, passive fire protection and emergency lighting, rather than whole-building inspection.
This position is responsible for professionally delivering compliance inspections, trial evacuations, and technical repairs across a diverse range of customer sites. Working collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, the Building Compliance Inspector ensures compliance documentation is maintained, remedial works are facilitated, and annual BWoF requirements are met.
About the Role:
Conduct building compliance inspections, including monthly owner and alarm inspections, and six-monthly and annual inspections of passive fire protection and emergency lighting systems
Identify, document and report areas of non-compliance, working with customers to explain required remedial works and ensure these are completed to the required standard
Conduct and facilitate trial fire evacuations, ensuring inspections and associated compliance activities are completed professionally and efficiently
Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate compliance records using Uptick (training provided) and support the timely issue of Building Warrants of Fitness (BWoFs)
Undertake technical service activities, maintain company tools, testing equipment and stock, and proactively resolve on-site issues to minimise return visits
Maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships while complying with health and safety requirements, company procedures and professional service standards
Skills and Experience:
Relevant NZQA qualifications or equivalent experience, with a willingness and ability to achieve Independently Qualified Person (IQP) status within a reasonable timeframe
Experience in the passive fire industry, compliance inspections, testing, or technical response is preferred
Full NZ driver licence (required)
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with customers and a range of stakeholders
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications, with good written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple tasks
A proactive, task-oriented approach, with sound judgement, practical problem-solving abilities and the ability to remain composed under pressure
Pay, Hours and Benefits:
$65,000 – $70,000 per annum, depending on experience, + KiwiSaver
Permanent, full-time: guaranteed 40 hours per week, ordinarily Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm
Convenient Takapuna location
